IN ARCADIA - A BRIDGE, A WORK OF ART, A GIFT

In December 2012, the new Gold Line Bridge  which will carry the Gold Line light rail trains across the Foothill (210) Freeway near Santa Anita Avenue was dedicated. What an interesting creation, a gateway to the San Gabriel Valley. Anchored by two (2) 25 – foot tall baskets that pay tribute to the indigenous Gabrielino Indian tribe of the San Gabriel Valley. The 584 – foot long sculptural structure spans the eastbound lanes of the Foothill (210) Fwy. The underside reflects patterns on the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake.

Daily, 255,000 drivers will pass and enjoy this publicly funded work of art. The bridge cost $18.6 million and was built on time and on budget! Now that is encouraging news.
